HOSTPLUS Pedal 4 Prostate riders Sam Bach, Conan Daley and Andrew Luedecke raced the Surf Coast MTB Festival on Saturday 23rd October as a prelude to the HOSTPLUS Pedal 4 Prostate Ride and placed 1st in their 12 hour 3 man team category and 3rd overall.
Racing from 10am to 10pm the team lapped consistently around the 15km course located around the Eumeralla Scout camp area near Anglesea. The course was a real delight of flowing singletrack, fast fireroads and bombing descents that got more fun to ride each lap.
The boys recovered and relaxed when waiting their turn in the MFB/Bicycles Inc marquee laden with food, good tunes and good company. We had HOSTPLUS Pedal 4 Prostate posters around race village and got time on the event PA to promote the ride.
After 9 hours of racing the sun began to drop, the lights came on and the atmosphere around the race heightened with the excitement of night racing. For us there was the task of catching our main rivals who were 8 minutes up on us.
The challenge was taken in to hand and the team threw in some scorching night riding to reel them in lap by lap. After 17 laps and 11.5 hours of racing we took the lead on the last lap and took it home to win by 2 minutes.
Presentation time and the boys received a great ovation, took the time to promote the HOSTPLUS Pedal 4 Prostate ride in the victory speech and snaffled some handy prizes as well.

Thanks to all who helped on the day, Bicycles Inc for the Anthem 29er, and to Southern Exposure for a great event
